2. L’Artisan Parfumeur

L'Artisan Parfumeur came into existence as a result of a playful challenge. With his background in chemistry, Jean Laporte was asked by a friend if he could create a scent of banana to wear with a matching costume to a grand evening at the Folies Bergères. This request was followed by other requests for fragrances of grapefruit and vanilla.


He experimented and created original scents with "natural essences". With the success of his first line of fragrances, Jean Laporte was named L'Artisan Parfumeur – the craftsman of fragrance – by perfume enthusiasts.

Penhaligon's is a perfume maison created in London in 1870 by William Henry Penhaligon. Together, they fulfilled their desire for a sensual, generous, and multi-faceted landscape of olfactory free expression, creating a new emblem of French know-how and lifestyle.

5. Histoires de parfums
